WWW Wednesday 9.04

WWW Wednesday is a weekly post run by Sam of Taking On A World of Words where you answer three questions about what you are reading.

WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?

Honestly, not much has changed since last week. I felt like I wasted a lot of time trying to finish A Court of Thorn and Roses, until eventually giving up. I just could not get into it. I wish I had made the decision to give up on it sooner because I could have put more time towards reading reading The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett, which I started last week. Last week, I mentioned that I was loving it, and that’s still true. It’s very Game of Thrones-y in its political plotting/backstabbing and also just the brutal and violent nature of life in the Middle Ages. I’m hoping to finish it up by this weekend so look out for a review either this weekend or early next week. I also found out there’s a miniseries starring lots of cool people like Hayley Atwell, Eddie Redmayne, Ian McShane, and Sam Claflin, so I’m excited to watch that after I’m done. And, there’s a board game that I’ve seen people in my game group play, so hopefully I get to check that out at some point as well.

I’m also finally reading Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyami, which I’m loving so far. I was honestly kind of worried about this book. I’ve read a lot of books recently that were hyped up as being great, but that I ended up hating. I’m so glad to have found a book that’s hyped up AND good.

Finally, I’m still kind of reading Kingdom of Needle and Bone by Mira Grant, but have kind of put it on hold (even though I’m really enjoying it) to read my library books before they are due.

WHAT DID YOU RECENTLY FINISH READING?

I finished up Animals Strike Curious Poses by Elena Passarello,  a collection of essays about various famous animals. I’d been reading it for a while because it was a small book that I carried around with me in my purse in case I needed something to read somewhere, but never really had many opportunities to read in public. But I finally decided I wanted to wrap it up so I sat down and finished it on Friday. It was pretty informative, but never really captivated me, even though I love animals.

WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’LL READ NEXT?

I haven’t given this too much thought since I’m so engrossed by The Pillars of the Earth, but I’m kind of hoping to read some sort of mystery novel next. I just saw Searching in theaters and now I’m hungry for some more mystery in my life. By the way, Searching is my new favorite movie of the year, and thanks to MoviePass and AMC A-List, I’ve seen a lot of movies so there’s a lot of competition there. It was just such an enthralling story and the way that it was told, which was entirely through computer screens, was so unique. I’m definitely planning on seeing it a few more times.

What have you finished reading recently? Is there any book you’re excited to read?
